The new kid on our blog | Little Meraki

So it's been a tough & crazy few weeks for us, with so much happening on the business side of things!

Our usual blog posts have had to make way for a tiny new sibling we like to call: Little Meraki

I've been nurturing the idea of extending my lifestyle blog for a while now & I am so very pleased to share my dream with you!

I will always remain a lifestyle blogger, but since becoming a mom myself, I just felt the need to share my own experiences with fellow mommies out there...

It seemed like a natural progression for us & I'm very fortunate, to have my sister on board with the "kiddie" side of the blog.

We focus mainly on unique & one of a kind products for mommy and baby, as well as nursery decor and goodies for toddlers.

Please come visit us at our first market, hosted by our friends from #Minimo.

See you there!

Zana Workshop | Review

So a while ago,  I decided to get the creative juices flowing again...

And whilst having a baby is one of womanhood's greatest achievements, having a toddler can sometimes be totally daunting!

Need I use the little word: teething ???

It was time to have some mommy time & please read carefully...this term is not to be confused with the term: date night!

Somewhere, along the daily antics of a busy little human & my "mommy to-do list" I lost the creative side of myself!

Now, this is not a struggle post, but rather a "sigh of relief" or tribute to those succesful creatives who still give back to us mere mortals!

Bring in the girls from the #zana_workshop!

From the super talented mom & daughter team, Sue & Robyn Britz to the very creative Melissa Nunnerley & yum-yum foodie Nikki Albertyn!

Everything about this workshop was skilfully planned to the finest detail!

We learned about the business side, as well as the fun side of screenprinting!

These ladies are a design force to be reckoned with!

Before we knew it our time at the workshop was done, beautiful prints & tons of fun were had by all!

Make sure you book your tickets for their next workshop on the 29th of August.

Love is On | Revlon Review

So a few weeks ago I went to the #CT_Meetup hosted by the lovely Cindy Alfino.

Boy! Were we in for a treat...

Thanks to REVLON South Africa and their brand ambassador, Chi Chi, for our amazing goodie bag beauty products.

I tested out their nail varnish & loved the easy way I could just apply & let it dry!

Quick & easy, great for a busy working mommy on the go!

Pinkish glitter would not normally be a colour option for me, but I loved wearing my #Barbie nails every step of the way!

Thanks for bringing out the little girl in me!

Our little penguin's 1st birthday...

(Photo Credit: Janine Bronkhorst Photography )

And so the day finally arrived...

Our little bundle turned 1 year old on the 23rd of April 2015.

A day best described as happy, emotional & blessed.

I am always completely thankful for all the little moments and heaps of blessings we have been able to experience  with our own little person

It's no small fete to reach this milestone, but all together I became more relaxed as a new mommy.

To me this day also signified a "coming of age" phase or somewhat of a butterfly experience - I was settling into my own skin again.

But I now have an added layer: Mommy

I would never have been able to do this on my own, but with the love and support of my husband, family & friends...this little guy might just turn out okay!

The past year just flew by!
He is growing up & I am also growing emotionally...

Raising a kid is a never ending roller coaster of emotions for the both of you - it's also the single most fulfilling experience you will ever have!

I love every moment of being this little penguin's momma and had a blast organising his #Little_Indian #Pow_Wow party!

Thanks a bunch to the following suppliers who made this day amazing!

- Hiring Items:  Marisa | Little Deer Parties
- Custom Party Decor & Favor Bags: Wilmarie | Mie Arts & Crafts
- Teepee Tents: DIY Project | H & N Crafts
- Decor Items: Own goodies
- Photography: Janine | Janine Bronkhorst Photography
- Birthday Cake & Custom Cookies: Charlotte | Krummels Kuns Koekies

I hope you enjoyed this little adventure with me...

Mommy & Me - Forest Shoot...

So I have been away from my blog for quite some time now...

To any blogger this would be a problematic situation, but for me the time spent away from my laptop were filled to the brim with good family memories!

Last week was a huge milestone for mommy, daddy & baby as our little one turned #ONE!

We had the birthday party over the weekend (blog post to follow), but on Thursday we teamed up with his birth photographer, Alda Heunis Smith, to capture a special shoot in Newlands Forest.

I didn't make use of a doula during our whole birthing experience, but believe me if you were a 1st time mommy set on natural birth and they tell you it has to be a C-section, you want Alda by your side!

Not only does her photography speak for itself, but her calming, soft manner just makes every experience in the delivery room so easy!

We have made a friend for life and we love sharing our little #Peter_Pan (as she nicknamed him) with you, Alda!

Here's a sneak peek of our amazing time spent at the forest!

Hope you love it as much as we do...

#OOTD - What I am wearing today...

So today I've decided to revive an old favourite:
The Skinny Jean

It's been a while since I wore one of these babies!

I can't even begin to tell you what a struggle it's been to get my hands on a pair to fit me as well as my pre-preggy pants used to...

Losing the extra baby weight is a constant battle, but after 2 weeks of #banting I finally found a pitch black pair that fit me like a glove!

Easy on the eye and easy on the budget, with the cutest zipper detail on the front pockets!

I went for the comfy chic look & paired them with cute lace bow pumps and a textured wool & leather top that I bought last season!

Suppliers:

- Skinny Jeans: Truworths
- Textured Top: Woolworths
- Lace Pumps: Bday Gift
Cosmetics: Avon & MAC

Having a beautiful sunny day here in the Karoo!

Little V's Nursery...

I have been wanting to do this post for a very long time.

Inbetween going back to work after maternity leave and having a teething toddler take his 1st steps, a nursery blog post was the last thing in a day I actually had time & the necessary energy for...

So finally after almost 10 months post baby, I can finally give you a quick glimpse into our little cub's nursery!  I love walking into his room whenever I feel the need to reconnect with my little sprout.

In hindsight this room came out even more tranquil, yet modern than even I could ever imagine!

The best thing about a nursery of your own, is without a doubt that extra little bit of detail and the personal touch only an expecting mommy has...

The #DIY bits & bobs in this nursery might be due to my natural nesting instincts, but to this day it's been one of my favourite projects.

Celebrating a new life and especially the 1st addition to our family, will forever be one of my most cherished moments in life!

We've also managed to leave small photo memories in colourful frames throughout the room...the idea is to tell our little guy about his journey into our family as he grows older...

I will do a second blog post at a later stage with interesting tips & tricks when creating a nursery on a budget!
